Stay with us and you will be sure of a lovely holiday.
Had a lovely stay at The Homestead. Shame we didn’t get a chance to do the gold panning! The location is perfect, secluded and quiet yet still near everything we wanted to do and visit. Would happily come back again!
We’ve had a lovely stay here. The Homestead is beautiful and built by Paul himself which we were very impressed with! Definitely buy the eggs and jam - both gorgeous! We were very comfortable and had everything we needed. We didn’t get an opportunity to do any of the activities Paul offers but we sure will do next time we stay. Would 100% recommend for a quiet and relaxed stay in great location.
Can't recommend this holiday cottage enough. Everything you need for a stay away and more! Clean, tidy, well located and stocked with all the appliances/kitchen requirements you could need. Paul is super friendly and really goes the extra mile to help where he can. Can't wait to come back
After a long break from Devon we returned to Southcombe Farm this time choosing Homestead as our accommodation. Our short Easter break found our host, Paul, ready to welcome us after our long journey from Kent. A quick introduction and we were left to relax. We were greeted the following morning with bright sunshine which we made full use of relaxing on the Homestead veranda. Nothing was too much trouble to our hosts to make our stay perfect. - Cushions, bird books, fly spray, cakes!
As per the website, Homestead includes many features to make the stay perfect. It is so rural but thanks to sheep, ducks, birds and lots of wildlife there is much to occupy oneself.
In our 4 days we explored Hartland Quay, RHS Rosemore, Merry Harriers Garden Center, now home to 2000 + Gnomes!, Roadford Lake and of course the lovely Devon countryside.
Thank you for looking after us so well. See you again soon.
We stayed for a week in Devon (two families in both cottages). We had an amazing time. The boys loved the tyre swings, river walk and generally running wild. The cottages were beautifully presented. We will definitely return at some point.
This place is very special. Yes, the cottage we stayed in was immaculate and had everything we needed, but that’s not the main reason why we will remember it.
We were welcomed into life onto the farm for a week and really felt part of the family. The kids woke up in the morning itching to feed the animals and to hear about their adventures. Jim would write an excellent children’s book if he ever found some spare time. I too looked forward to hearing stories from his fascinating life while the kids fed the animals with him. He shared some valuable insights with me.
When we weren’t at the beach, exploring the fields and woods was great fun too. The accommodation gives you privacy from the outside world, yet you still feel connected to it when you want to be. Holsworthy gave us a very special week and for that we’re truly thankful. It would be easy to return to, many times over.
Stayed with my wife and son. The family were fantastic and welcoming. Jim showed my son the feeding of the animals and the farm which was the highlight of the holiday for my son. Large surrounding area for walks and in a lovely location. Cottage was warm and lovely. Will definitely return.
I stayed at the Barn at Holsworthy Holiday Cottages in July 2017. It is the kind of place you immediately want to live in all the time. The upstairs makes a very attractive sitting area and the way the furniture is positioned you feel very cosy and is lovely for curling up with a good book. Downstairs the bedrooms are attractively decorated and everywhere is very clean. The kitchen upstairs is nice for cooking a proper meal in which is not always the case in holiday accommodation.
The surrounding farm is well kept and there are great views of the the surrounding countryside from the barn windows.
The host Paul Clark is very congenial and knowledgeable of the surrounding area. All in all you cant beat it for a stay in the Devon countryside.
