Trees Glorious Trees!

Tree Planting @ Holsworthy Holiday Cottages!

Did you know that over the last two years we have planted over 200 new native trees!  This winter we will be planting at least another 100.
Each tree, over its lifetime, say 100 years, will absorb at least 250Kg of carbon.
These pictures show new trees in the hidden valley and a one year old Oak in its tree guard.   We have also planted Scotts Pine,  Sycamore, Chestnut, Horse Chestnut, Ash, Beech, Mountain Ash and Hazel.
When you stay with us make sure you take a walk through our existing woods, see the new trees and breath in that lovely Devon country air!

Ten Great Things!

Ten great things to do down on the farm when you visit us this Summer!

  1. Animal Feeding – Feed TG the horse, Godfrey the sheep, the chickens, the ducks and not to forget the cats, Henry & Heidi.
  2. Collect the eggs.
  3. Walk the farm trail – Find the hide?  Can you spot?  Deer, Buzzard, Jay, Woodpecker, Snake, Lizard, Slow Worm, to name a few.  How many wild flowers can you identify?
  4. River Walk – Put your wellies on and walk up the river bed!  Can you find Holly Falls, Bog Falls, Witches Cauldron and Cairn Beach?  How about racing Reed Boats?
  5. Build a Dam –  How much water can your dam hold back and will it last the next rain storm?
  6. Have Campfire – Toast marsh mellows and sing a few songs!
  7. Build a fancy Cairn at Cairn Beach.
  8. Laze in a hammock.
  9. Visit the play area – Be Tarzan on the tyre swing or find out who is best at penalty shoot outs.
  10. Go on a night hike –  Listen to the owls, watch out for bats and gaze at the stars.

There is so much to do!  Down on the Farm in Devon!
